Law Clerk or Associate - appeal briefing and research (remote)
This position is for an associate attorney or law clerk, full-time or part-time (remote work during COVID)
Your work will involve all parts of the appellate process, from research to effective drafting to formatting to exploring settlement.
The appeal seeks to establish procedural due-process rights to an appeal. Was there adequate time to present the case? Can a case be dismissed if not all issues were decided or not all parties were notified?
The initial appeal brief is due presently, and the work will be fairly intense until it is completed and filed. It will be a plus if you can start immediately or within one week.
The position is with a solo firm handling a civil rights appeal that has a proven track record of successful civil rights appeals (see examples at bottom).
We welcome you to apply. Please send your resume and an email about your current situation, your qualifications and interests in the position, and your requested salary range to jobs@rsmcnallylaw.com .
Required:
- Law degree for an associate attorney, preferably Texas.
- At least one semester of law school for a clerk.
- Demonstrated legal research and writing abilities and interest.
A plus:
- Experience in trial or appellate advocacy, persuasive writing, or debate or courses in these.
- Ability to discuss key concepts in the book "Winning an Appeal"
- Living in Austin
- Immediate availability
