Law Clerk or Associate - appeal briefing and research (remote)
Associate Attorney or Law Clerk
These one to two positions are for a law clerk or associate attorney, full-time or part-time, with a solo firm involved in
- tax issues of small business, investor, and real estate, including IRC 1033 treatment of capital gains (after eminent domain taking)
- commercial and residential real estate negotiations, sales, and purchases
- partition of properties to liquidate interest acquired via a contingency award in an equal protection case
- recovery of attorney fees in probate where an equal protection appeal led to a settlement (Chavana, below)
- negotiating sale of oil and gas interests from the Reed case below.
- advising attorneys who form or counsel small businesses
- or other duties as assigned
The job involves project management, research, writing, and settling partition and probate interests, out of court if possible. The office is in West Campus near the Drag, and the work will largely be remote.
Required
- Associate attorney: at least one semester of law school
- Law clerk: law degree
- Clear organized writing
Pluses
- Experience or courses involving legal research or real estate
- Legal writing kudos
Pay
Associate attorney, $40 an hour or higher depending on experience, education, recognition
Law clerk: $30 an hour or higher depending on experience, education, recognition
